Betty Ruth Imogene (Stapleton) Jones, 81, of Decatur, IL went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2011 at 1:10 a.m. in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Betty was born on May 11, 1930 in Springfield, IL the daughter of Walter and Letha (Woods) Stapleton. She married Robert L. Jones on February 10, 1951. She worked at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home for 34 years. Betty was an avid Bingo player and loved her trips to Las Vegas with her husband Bob. Betty was a member of the Community Church of God in Decatur and also attended Capital City Church of God in Springfield.
Surviving are her husband Robert of Decatur; daughters Penny Storms (special friend Robert Jackson) of Washington, D. C. and C. Christine Doolen (Paul) of Decatur; sons Gary Jones of Wichita, KS and Bruce Jones (Patsy) of Decatur. 10 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 5 step-great grandchildren; sister Cecilia Upshaw (Bill) of Springfield; brother David Stapleton (Roberta) of Springfield and sister-in-law Carlene Brown of Denver, CO. Special friends Betty J. Kennedy, Justine Owens, Barbara Jarrett and Jeannie Barbie.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, sister Christine Oliver, brother Floyd Stapleton and grandson Brian Moore, Jr.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. Totel for his prayers and professional care. Dr. Esparaz, Dr. Yoon and Dr. Yoon's nurses that went above and beyond with their love. Also the 3rd Floor Orthopedic nurses and hospice nurses at DMH that took exceptional care of our mother.
Funeral services to celebrate Betty's life will be 11:00 a.m. Friday October 21, 2011 at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood St. Funeral Home with visitation on Thursday October 20, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour before the services on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
